Located just 45 miles west of Durango, Colorado, Cortez sits at the base of the Mesa Verde' plateau, with the San Juan Mountains to the east.  The property is located in Montezuma County an agriculturaly based community with a pleasent climate.  The population consists of an eclectic retired community comprised of artists, muscians and entrepreneurs.  Native American tribes of Ute Mountain Utes and Navajo bring a colorful culture to the area.  Their history runs deep, their traditions mingled with modern day life along with annual Pow Wow's and frequent cultural presentations at the Cortez Cultural Center.

Beautiful vistas abound in all directions from these comfortably remodeled  farm homes.  The main home is 1600 square feet. The original hard wood and pine floors have been restored.

The main home offers two bedroom, two baths, office and laundry/mud room.  Electrical service has been updated.  A new septic was installed four years ago.  99% of the windows have been replaced with double pane vinyl.  The exterior is stucco, roof is ashpalt shingle.  The construction is estimated to be in the 1940's so the charm and "feel" of this home is one of a comfortable farm home with long time ranching history.

Soapstone freestanding fireplace in sunroom.

Grand old Cottonwood trees shade the main home in the summer, A towering Blue Spruce provides color and character during the winter.  Established lylac bushes welcome spring with their fragrence.

This is the Guest or Mother-in-law home; two bedrooms, one bath, small iving area, separate kitchen.  Two free standing propane Jotul stoves for heat.  Electric or propane range, propane hot water heater.  Floors are carpeted with poured concrete foundation, approximately 960 square feet.  Seventy five percent windows and doors replaced.   Notice the privacy fence between the two homes.
